SPEAKER BIO

Luma Mufleh is a visionary CEO, author, humanitarian, coach, and a thought leader for education. She is a gay Muslim woman, an immigrant of Syrian descent. Her story starts in Jordan and takes many turns, from watching missiles zoom through the sky over her school, to starting college in the US, to seeking asylum, to founding the first accredited school for refugees in the United States, to receiving her U.S. citizenship in 2011, and more. Her experiences shape her vision of the American dream and her approach to the challenges of integration and discrimination in today’s society.

Luma's speeches address themes surrounding diversity, refugees, xenophobia, social justice, and education. By sharing stories from her childhood and about her involvement with the Fugees Family, Luma inspires others to pursue social entrepreneurship, take action within their own communities, speak out against injustice, and be kinder to one another.
